Seventy-six thousand people, one heartbeat, and a Guinness World Record for noise. Here's how a visitor does a Chiefs gameday at Arrowhead right — and why you should see it before the lights go out.

History in the making
In December 2025 the Chiefs announced they're leaving GEHA Field at Arrowhead — their home since 1972 — for a brand-new, roughly $3 billion domed stadium across the state line in Wyandotte County, Kansas, targeted for around 2031.

~2030The team plays on at Arrowhead through roughly the 2030 season. If you want to feel the roar in the place that made the roar — open sky, January wind, no roof to trap the sound and no roof to soften the cold — your window is now, not someday.

Don't get caught at the gate
Arrowhead runs on a few hard rules that surprise first-timers. Learn these four and you'll glide in while everyone else circles the lot.
There is no cash at the gates — parking must be purchased ahead of time. Lots open about 4.5 hours before kickoff.
Stadium gates open 2 hours before kickoff. Get there early — the pregame energy in the bowl is half the experience, and the lines thicken fast near game time.
Bags must be clear and within roughly 12" × 6" × 12", or a 1-gallon clear zip bag. Leave the backpack in the car. A small clutch is generally fine, but clear is the safe call.
Uber and Lyft use the Missouri Welcome Center on Blue Ridge Cutoff, between Gates 1 & 2. Drop a pin there for pickup before kickoff — postgame demand spikes hard.
Policies change season to season — always verify gameday details on Chiefs.com before you head out.

Tailgate like a local
In Kansas City, the tailgate isn't the warm-up act — it's a main event. Smoked meat, cornhole, and strangers becoming friends over a grill.
The public party lives on the west side of Lot M and opens about 4 hours before kickoff. Free to walk in — live music, games, and the full sensory pregame even if you've never set foot in the stadium.
No ticket? No problem.
Sold out, off day, or just want the energy without the drive east? The city wears red on Sundays — and downtown turns into one giant living room.
The open-air KC Live! block in the Power & Light District lights up for every game — giant screens, a roaring crowd, and the closest thing to Arrowhead's volume you'll find without a ticket. Walkable from most downtown hotels.
