Kansas City · Say Hello

Meet people in KC — your way, at your pace

New to town, or just ready to know more people? Post what you're into and who you'd like to meet — a date, an activity partner, or simply some Kansas City friends. Pick a KC nickname and go. No signup, no profiles, no swiping.

How this works

A friendly board, not a dating app

This is an old-school community board with a modern, kind face. Everybody posts under a Kansas City nickname — no real names, no accounts, nothing to download. Write a little about yourself, what you're looking for, and how someone can say hi. Read first if you'd rather lurk. There's room here for romance and room here for plain old friendship.

No swiping

Real words, not photos

You write a post, people read it, someone reaches out. It feels more like a coffee-shop bulletin board than an app — because that's the idea.

No signup

Pick a KC nickname

Choose a nickname (River Market Local, Brookside Bookworm, take your pick) and post. We never ask for an account, a profile, or your real name.

All welcome

Dates — or just friends

Looking for a partner, a hiking buddy, a trivia teammate, or someone to grab lunch with? All of it belongs here. Use the tab that fits.

Stay safe out there

This is a public board that anyone can read, and we don't verify anyone who posts. A few simple habits keep meeting new people fun instead of risky:

  • Never post personal details. No home address, full name, workplace, daily routine, or any financial information — in your post or your early messages.
  • Meet first in a busy public place. A coffee shop, the Plaza, a Current match — somewhere with people around. Skip private homes and isolated spots for a first meet.
  • Tell a friend where you're going. Share the plan, the place, and roughly when you'll be back. A quick check-in text goes a long way.
  • Never send money. Not for a "ticket," a "ride," an emergency, or any reason. Anyone asking is a scam — full stop.
  • Trust your gut and leave. If something feels off, you owe no one an explanation. Drive your own car, keep your phone charged, and head home.

We can't screen or vouch for anyone on this board. Your judgment is the only safety check that's always there — use it freely.

When you've made a plan

Great first-meet ideas in KC

Public, easy, and a little memorable — the best first dates (and first hangouts) leave you something to talk about. A few favorites:

Lively + easy

A Current match — arrive free

Catch the Kansas City Current at CPKC Stadium and ride the free streetcar down to the riverfront. Buzzy crowd, no awkward silences, no parking stress. See the soccer guide →

Free + walkable

First Fridays in the Crossroads

Galleries open late, music on the corners, food trucks everywhere — a perfect low-pressure stroll where there's always something to point at. Explore the neighborhoods →

Free + classic

The Nelson-Atkins lawn

Wander the giant Shuttlecocks on the museum lawn — the grounds are free and gorgeous. Great for a daytime meet that can stretch on or wrap up easily.

Iconic

A fountains stroll on the Plaza

KC is the City of Fountains for a reason. Window-shop, grab a coffee, and walk the Country Club Plaza — pretty, public, and full of bail-out-or-stay options.

Very KC

Barbecue + a Boulevard beer

Share burnt ends and a cold local pour. Nothing breaks the ice like arguing over the best KC barbecue. Where to eat in KC →

Golden rule

Keep it public, keep it short

A first meet doesn't need to be grand — it needs to be in public and easy to leave. Drive yourself, meet there, and see how it feels.
